Bogle Cabernet Sauvignon

Bogle Cabernet Sauvignon

Growing Area: California
Vintage: 2009
Price: $11.50 USD

Being one of California’s Cult wines, Cabernet Sauvignon has really become quite an enjoyable wine for me.  Upon being poured in the glass the Bogle Cabernet Sauvignon had a nicely pronounced dark purple color to it.

Aromas were graceful scents of blackberry, chocolate, and stone fruit.  Tastes showed a dry pepper/spice, black current, raspberry, that combined well with balanced tannins.  The long finish was a toasty faint jam that tended to linger on the palate well after drinking.  Complex and enjoyable.

Although I did not directly pair this wine with a meal I would suggest partnering it with a heavy red meat dish or pork.

Overall I give this wine 4 ½ corks out of 5.  Buy and drink now!

Clos Du Bois Rosé

Clos Du Bois Rosé

Growing Area: Sonoma County
Vintage: 2007
Price: $11.99 USD

Sorry for the pause in reviews lately however I have been nursing myself back to health (caught a cold).  Now that my sinuses have cleared and palate refreshed lets “start” November with a nice Rosé.

Upon visual inspection this Rosé had an amber/orange color when poured into the glass.  It somewhat reminded me of a tawny port, color wise that is.

The aroma was a fresh peach and berries, actually quick simple and easily detected.  Upon first tastes the Rosé proved to be dry with spicy bitter notes concentrated around wild berry flavors.  The finish was moderate, with dry almond notes.

I paired my Clos Du Bois Rosé with Homemade County Ham Bean Soup, Sweet Pickled Relish, and Skilled Fried Cornbread.

Overall I give this wine 2 corks out of 5.  In my opinion there are better Rosé’s on the market especially in the $10 - $15 price range.
